JOB TITLE: VARSITY GIRLS’ BASKETBALL COACH – HEAD COACH

SUPERVISOR: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY :
 
  • The Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach manages the girls’ basketball program at the high school under the direction of the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
 
  1. Valid Michigan teaching certificate preferred.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in coaching basketball preferred.
  3. Ability to organize and supervise the total sports program.
  4. Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and at the same time continue to examine new theories and procedures that are pertinent.
  5. Proven ability to meet the challenges of an urban-rural, multi-racial, multi-ethnic school district.
  6. Other qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
 
  1. Attend and supervise all practices and games.
  2. Recommend assistant coaches to the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director.
  3. Train and plan for coaches at all levels in order that all will be prepared to teach similar drills, techniques and philosophy.
  4. Abide by the policies of the Board of Education, the Michigan High School Athletic Association, and the Big Eight Athletic Conference.
  5. Confirm that each student athlete is eligible regarding age, physical exam, and enrollment in school, current semester GPA, and attendance.
     
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1.  Ensure that each student athlete has had a proper annual physical examination and a copy is on file in the Athletic Office.
  2. Ensure that the athletic trainer and/or physician have cleared injured athletes prior to the athlete returning to practice or an athletic event.
  3. Provide the Athletic Office with a complete list of participants for each athletic event and inform those students who are deemed ineligible.
  4. Post and provide a list of training rules and consequences for infractions to each student.
  5. Assume responsibility for the issuance, control, and return of athletic equipment. Work with equipment manager in making sure that procedures are followed and a final inventory is made.
  6. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director

JOB TITLE: EQUIPMENT MANAGER - FOOTBALL

SUPERVISOR: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Equipment Manager oversees operation of equipment room facilities, including outfitting all student athletes and coaches involved in Fall sports, maintaining, storing, and cleaning, equipment, and supervising equipment room staff and equipment under the direction the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school graduation and experience working with athletic equipment preferred.
  2. Knowledge of all types of athletic equipment and its proper use.
  3. Supervisory ability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Attend all football practices and games as deemed appropriate
  2. Dispense and receive instructional, athletic, and recreational equipment
  3. Fit and outfit students with athletic equipment and clothing as required.
  4. Purchase clothing and equipment for teams and coaches
  5. Launder men’s and women’s athletic clothing as required.
  6. Purchase and maintain records of all equipment room supplies
  7. Perform periodic inventory of stock
  8. Prepare team equipment for travel and make arrangements for lockers and supplies for visiting teams as needed
  9. Provide routine maintenance of athletic equipment, including repair, replacement, cleaning, oiling, and sewing; and for minor maintenance on laundry equipment.
  10. Perform related duties as assigned.
